As the trend towards wet rooms and power showers continues, the requirement for trusted products for these demanding installations has probably never been greater.

Tiled wet rooms, when installed correctly and with the right products, can bring satisfaction for many years to come. However, it’s always essential that the tiling is completed in line with the guidance provided in BS5385 Part 4 to avoid any future water damage to surrounding areas.

It’s important that any water sensitive backgrounds are tanked and made waterproof prior to installing tiles; even when using an impervious grout the tiling may not be sufficient to prevent water ingress to the background.

As Mandy Searle, technical manager at Norcros Adhesives explains “Plaster, plasterboard and any timber based boards all need tanking. By correctly applying a tanking system, a waterproof barrier is formed over the background, protecting it from future water damage that can lead to installation failure.” Norcros Adhesives’ Wet Seal is specially designed for showers and bathrooms.

Stop Mould Flexible Wall Grout is anti-bacterial and anti-fungal, ideal for power showers and wet rooms. The Stop Mould range also includes Mould Resistant Silicone Sealant, a high modulus quick drying sealant which exceeds the standard of BS5889(B).
